Optimization of wetlands used for mine wastewater purification under Northern climatic conditionsThe research aims to better understand and to optimize the functioning of treatment peatlands. The following research questions will be addressed: (i) What key factors control adsorption and desorption in treatment wetlands? (ii) What variations of these factors occur during the life-time of treatment wetland? (iii) How do organic substances effect on treatment efficiencies in treatment wetlands? (iv) What method could be used to predict behavior of contaminants in treatment wetlands? (v) What method could be used to counteract variation in purification efficiencies of treatment wetlands?
